Married on Purpose

MARRIAGE IS NOT AN END IN ITSELF; IT SERVES A FAR MORE GLORIOUS PURPOSE!
We often say, “God put you together on purpose.” We say this to affirm your marriage; that no matter where you are in the marriage journey, God is for your marriage, not against it. This is very true! But it may be even more helpful to say it like this, “God put you together for a purpose.” My conviction is that God puts marriages together so that husbands and wives can do a good work in God’s Kingdom. In another words, as God is extending his Kingdom into all the earth, marriages hold a particular place in that plan.

When God placed Adam and Eve in the garden it is pretty clear that God intended that they both work the garden together. It is as if God puts them together because they are meant to complete a task that they otherwise could not do alone. That’s one of the reasons that “it is not good for man to be alone.”

Over the next few weeks, we will explore all the ways husbands and wives are called to do that good work together. In the meantime pray together! Ask God to show you ways that he can use your marriage in the lives of others.
